Jose E. Rodriguez Rios is a computer science researcher specializing in cybersecurity. He holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras, where he was the first student to defend a thesis in the newly established program. His thesis focused on developing an accessible and cost-effective network vulnerability scanning tool using OpenVAS, Nmap, and WireGuard. Jose interned as a Computing Graduate Student Intern in the DevOps program at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), where he contributed to containerization, GitLab CI/CD, and malware binary analysis. He also participated in the Intro to HPC Bootcamp at Berkeley National Lab gaining hands-on experience with the Perlmutter supercomputer. Jose has taught workshops on Linux, cybersecurity, reverse engineering, and network analysis, and has contributed to Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions. His technical expertise includes Python, Ghidra, Docker, Kubernetes, and a broad range of security tools. Outside the lab, he enjoys listening to music, playing video games, TTRPGs and spending time with family.
