Applicants should be undergraduates or early career graduate students with some background in coding, but no experience in high-performance computing is required.

While the application cycle for the 2025 Intro to HPC Bootcamp is now closed, you can stay informed about future bootcamp activities by subscribing to our mailing list. Emails will be sent when the next call for applications opens and if there are any updates to the deadlines.

We encourage students from STEM fields outside of computing to apply and learn how supercomputers and parallel processing can help solve complex computational science problems.

When and Where

The bootcamp will run in the Chicagoland area on August 10 – 15, 2025. 

Cost

There are no fees to participate. Domestic airfare, meals, and lodging are provided along with a stipend to cover any additional costs for the week. 

Application Deadline

The deadline for submission was March 14, 2025.

What attendees can expect

  • Participants will gain foundational knowledge of HPC concepts and work on projects in small groups to address real-world energy challenges

  • Ground transportation for local attendees as well as for arrival/departure flights is included
