Travel Information
After you've been selected, you will fill out your travel requirements in the bootcamp registration form. Based on those requirements, bootcamp support staff will book your travel through the Argonne travel system.
Yes! Travel (via air) and getting access to Argonne National Laboratory requires a form of REAL ID or other acceptable form of identification. If traveling with a driver's license, please ensure it is REAL-ID compliant. If flying without a REAL ID-compliant license, TSA now imposes a $45/trip fee that must be covered by the participant.
Participants who plan to fly will arrive at either Chicago O’Hare International Airport or Chicago Midway Airport.
Yes, depending on the distance from where you are traveling.
- If your drive <299 miles from the bootcamp, you will be reimbursed for mileage and tolls for approved travel days.
- If your drive is >299 miles, you must fly round-trip in order for the bootcamp to cover your travel.
Yes. Domestic train or bus travel can be arranged by a bootcamp support team member in accordance with Argonne's travel policy.
The program will provide ground transport to the venue for local attendees as well as for arrival/departure flights on approved travel days. A bootcamp support team member will help you book ground transportation once flights or travel itinerary are confirmed.
If you are driving to the Q Center, you can park on-site for free.
Attendance
The Introduction to HPC Bootcamp is an in-person event. There are no virtual or remote attendance options available. However, bootcamp materials and recordings will be made publicly available after the bootcamp has ended.
Yes, all meals as listed on the agenda and lodging will be provided at the Q Center.
We would like all bootcamp participants to be comfortable throughout the program. Participants are welcome to dress casually, recognizing the weather outside will likely be warm while the inside of the conference center will likely be cold.
All bootcamp participants are required to read, sign, and adhere to the code of conduct, found here.
During the bootcamp program, participants will have the opportunity to tour the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility in-person. Site access to Argonne National Laboratory will be coordinated by program staff. Buses to and from Argonne will be provided.
Participants will need access to individual laptops. For those who do not have one, the program will provide a computer. Participants will also be given access to DOE supercomputers. They will need to ensure access before arriving at the bootcamp by following the steps provided to sign up for an account.
