Where are you from?
My Iwi Hanau (Ancestral Birth Land) is Mokapu-Ka’ohao, on the Island of Oahu,
Hawaii
What are your academic/technical/or energy justice interests
I am deeply interested in anything HPC, because of how it naturally brings multiple disciplines to bear, to produce meaningful insights and the ever-present chance to discover something novel and new. I am especially interested, however, in LLP, Data Sovereignty, and Microbiome Metagenomics
Do you have any hobbies?
Yes! My main hobbies are in the wild, especially the ocean; where I surf, fish, spearfish, gather seaweeds and shellfish, race outrigger canoes, and play with my family. On land, I actively practice endangered Native Hawaiian plant reforestry, as well as hunt and forage. I also practice Hatha Yoga, Pilates, calisthenics, and martial arts
What are you most excited about for this program?
I have extensive experience in the energy industry, yet have never delved into Energy Justice nor analyzed energy in any aspect through HPC. This new experience is what I am absolutely most excited about, as well as the opportunity to work directly with the Department of Energy, students, and to make new friends
