Computational Scientist, Argonne National Laboratory

I was born and raised in Mersin, a historic port city on the Mediterranean coast of Türkiye. My academic journey took me from studying chemistry and physics in Ankara to earning a Ph.D. in chemical physics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. What drew me to science and still keeps me inspired is quantum mechanics, which beautifully connects the worlds of physics and chemistry. High-performance computing (HPC) fascinates me because it enables us to tackle scientific problems that were once out of reach. By combining the predictive power of quantum mechanics with the scale of HPC, we can simulate and understand complex chemical and material systems. I'm also very excited about how artificial intelligence is accelerating scientific research and bringing us closer to a revolution where we can design materials and drugs with unprecedented speed, precision, and creativity, transforming how we approach discovery and innovation. I’m thrilled to be part of this bootcamp and to share my passion for using HPC and AI to explore new scientific frontiers and uncover insights that were previously unimaginable.
