Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in the bay area of northern California.
What’s your field of study and how did you get into that field?
All my degrees (bachelors, masters, and PhD) are in chemistry. I specialized in computational quantum mechanics and I also minored in mathematics. I initially had a career in the high tech industry in silicon valley and returned to school initially with the intention of going into medicine. I discovered my love for math and physics so decided to complete a doctoral program instead.
What fascinates you about HPC?
I’m excited about how HPC can advance the capabilities of computational science and really enjoy the interdisciplinary nature of using HPC to solve pressing scientific problems. HPC in and of itself is super fascinating and presents interesting problems to work…when coupled with exciting physical problems, the fun never ends.
What’s your current title and what do you do?
I am the founder and President of a non-profit organization.
What energy topic is most important to you and why?
All the energy topics we picked for the bootcamp are extremely important and I’m thrilled with the portfolio of projects we were able to incorporate into the Bootcamp.
